My name is Rebecca Jones, and I am a freelance writer based in Glasgow.
I write a variety of prose in a range of styles, and I have a particular interest in short stories and historical fiction. I have an MA (Hons) and an MLitt in classics from the University of Glasgow, and am really fascinated by Roman history and historiography, mediaeval Britain and the Plantagenet and Tudor dynasties.
An incurable animal lover, I am very interested in the roles animals have played in the daily lives of people around the world throughout history, and do all I can to help promote the interests of animal rescue and conservation charities. I also support charities which promote better provision for, and understanding of, people with mental health conditions, and try to assist as much as possible in the promotion of public libraries as an essential and intrinsic part of a healthy community which is based on fairness, equality and mutual respect.
I have contributed blogs, features and news items to sites and publications including Black Dog Tribe, What the Dickens? Magazine and Writers’ Forum, and am available for commissions for journalistic pieces (accompanied by photography where required), articles, opinion pieces, blogs and works of fiction. I can produce prose and copy on most subjects, though my specialisms are history, literature and mental health.
Please get in touch if you would like to discuss or collaborate on a project – I’d be delighted to hear from you!
